We love supporting the annual Strawberry Festival at Messiah Lutheran Church each year. This year marks the 28th year of the festival. Check out photos from previous years here.
It will be held on Saturday, June 2nd, 2018 from 9am to 4pm at the Sykesville Freedom Fire Department.
The Strawberry Festival began as a way for the church to raise funds to construct a fellowship building. It started out small, but then began to grow. It has become the largest in the area and has sold over 420,000 pounds of strawberries!
The festivak has games, pony rides, entertainment, a silent auction, food, craft and antique vendors and, of course, strawberry shortcake. Proceeds from past festivals have funded the construction of ‘Celebration Hall,’ a building used by the Messiah Nursery School, Sunday School, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, 4H, Lions Club and other community organizations. Every year a portion of the proceeds goes to hep those in need both locally (disasters, womens’ shelters, Rose Felter Scholarship Fun, community members with medical needs) and nationally (Katrina victims, world hunger victims, relief for earthquake victims in Haiti).
Messiah Lutheran invites you to come out, enjoy the day, the people, have lots of fun and eat lots and lots of strawberries!
